Our charity of the year for 2008/2009 is Arthritis Care. Simon
completed the North West 'Fun' Triathlon on Sunday 20th September. This 'fun' event is a 200m swim,
20km cycle and 2.5km run. Simon was aiming for a time as close to 60 minutes as possible, although his previous
best time in the gym was 71 minutes. It was a beautiful day and in the end Simon was glad to finish with a time of 70
minutes! You can see some photos of the event by clicking on the DONATE button below.
Our fund-raising target
is £1000. You can support us and make a donation to Arthritis Care by clicking on the DONATE button below.

the Government.
Arthritis means inflammation of the joints. Most people with arthritis will experience pain and difficulty
moving around. Over nine million people in the UK have arthritis. Arthritis is not just a disease
of older people – it can affect people of all ages, including children. It is not clear what causes arthritis and there
is no cure at present. Arthritis Care encourage people with
arthritis to adopt "self-management". This means taking control of living with the condition, and
is crucial for emotional and physical well-being. Self-management can be life-changing. It encourages an attitude whereby the
individual accepts that arthritis affects them, but does not allow it to control them.
